Human exposure is NOT currently under control

About this site’s exposure pathways: As of December 2024, the Raymark Industries, Inc. Superfund site is considered "Current Human Exposure Not Under Control" because individuals could come into contact with soil contaminated with lead, asbestos, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) above acceptable levels at the Housatonic Boat Club (i.e., Raymark Operable Unit 5 - OU5). In addition, EPA is performing a Remedial Investigation (RI) at the Stratford Landfill/Short Beach Park (Raymark Operable Unit 9 - OU9); this investigation and associated risk assessments are not anticipated to be complete until Fiscal Year 2026. Pending the completion of the OU5 soil capping remedy, the Human Exposure determination may change to Insufficient Data (HEID) if this remedial action is completed prior to the determination of human health risk at the Stratford Landfill. However, if there are no current human health risks at the landfill, Human Exposure under control (HEUC) would be anticipated after the completion of the OU5 Remedy (est. September 2025).

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data.
