Exposure status: insufficient data

About this site’s exposure pathways: As of January 2025, the JJ Seifert Superfund site is considered “Insufficient Data to make a Human Exposure evaluation” (HEID) because of a newly identified potential exposure pathway for site related groundwater contaminated with TCE and Vinyl Chloride above MCL to impact local drinking water wells. The site was previously categorized as Human Exposure Under Control (HEUC); however the groundwater concentrations have increased since the last round of groundwater injections causing the groundwater plume area to expand. One well has already been found to have levels of TCE and VC above their respective MCLs in the pre-filter condition and there are 3 additional wells in close proximity that EPA plans to sample so that it can be determined if water filters are needed to mitigate risk to human health by the drinking water pathway.

EPA currently anticipates that there will be sufficient data to make a Human Exposure evaluation by 1/17/2027 because the sampling is currently being scheduled for completion by 7/31/2025 pending access agreements from property owners.

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data.
