LUSHER STREET GROUND WATER CONTAMINATION

IN | EPA ID IND982073785

Human exposure is NOT currently under control

About this site’s exposure pathways: As of December 2024, the Lusher Street Ground Water Contamination Superfund Site is considered “Current Human Exposure Not Under Control” because residents may be exposed via vapor intrusion (VI). 1,1,1,-Tricloroethane, chloroform, trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), vinyl chloride and benzene are in groundwater and may be in vapor based on soil and air screening. TCE and PCE were confirmed to have a complete VI pathway. The activities to address these pathways are to provide a municipal water connection to residents within the plume area and installation of VI mitigation systems to homes with a complete pathway for VI. Public outreach will continue as the cleanup progresses. Human exposures are expected to be under control by the end of 2026.

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data.
