Human exposure is NOT currently under control

About this site’s exposure pathways: As of April 2025, the Sauer Dump Superfund site is currently considered Human Exposure Not Under Control. The Site was promulgated on the National Priorities List (NPL) in March 2012 and the Remedial Investigation for the Site was approved in March 2020.The Record of Decision was signed in September 2024. Currently, surface and subsurface soil contamination consisting of metals (primarily lead) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) pose a potential exposure pathway to human receptors. A removal action removed lead and PCBs from surface soils on portions of the residential properties to reduce risk, but soil and sediment contamination continues to pose a potential exposure pathway to human receptors on the non-residential property (wetlands) to recreational users or trespassers. Residents have been notified to avoid any excavation in this area. Human exposure is estimated to be under control by September 2027.

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data.
