About this site’s exposure pathways: As of August 2025, there is not sufficient information to determine the site-wide Human Exposure Control status at the Hi-Mill Manufacturing Co. Superfund site because of a newly identified exposure pathway. Based on shallow groundwater monitoring data through 2020 and sub-slab soil vapor data from 2014, workers at the Raves Construction, Inc. facility may be exposed to contaminants via the inhalation of volatile organic compounds through the vapor intrusion pathway. The contaminants include trichloroethylene, vinyl chloride, and 1,2-dichloroethylene. The property owner voluntarily installed a sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) in sections of the building; however, the necessity or effectiveness of SSDS has not been evaluated. The planned activities to address this exposure pathway include evaluating the vapor intrusion pathway and the SSDS system. These activities are expected to be completed by the end of October 2025.
