About this site’s exposure pathways: As of September 2025, their is insufficient data to determine human exposure control status at the Fansteel Metals Superfund Site. The Site was added to the National Priorities List in January 2023. The Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study is expected to begin in the Spring of 2026 and conclude by October 2031. Removal activities are still ongoing to address waste stored on site. All residents are connected to the city's drinking water system and nearby private wells do not appear to be impacted by the Site. In addition, The site is is zoned for commercial use and access to the public is restricted through security fencing. Contaminant migration in groundwater and surface water is being manage by the Site's wastewater treatment plant. Additional information through the RI/FS is need to determine human exposure control status. All RI/FS field activities are expected to conclude by September 2030, at which point there will be sufficient data to make a human exposure control status determination.
