About this site’s exposure pathways: AS of September 2023, Human Exposure is Not Under Control (HENC). The EI status is driven by contamination discovered in OU2 during the Remedial Investigation (RI). The draft-final RI was completed in July 2023, with the final report expected early October. The RI found soil in 1 DU is contaminated with Pb above residential cleanup levels. Pb is a munition constituent resultant from historic operations by DOD and private residents as a firing range. The Site is zoned residential and is frequently visited by neighboring residents for walking and recreation. EPA is pursuing a Time-Critical Removal Action (TCRA) to excavate the top 1-2 ft of soils at the affected DU and transport for off-site disposal. The TCRA is slated for spring, 2023, due to weather constraints. Once the TCRA is completed, human exposure is expected to be under control and no further remedial action is anticipated.

At OU1, human exposure is already under control after remedial action was completed in 2018. Remedial action involved excavation and transportation to onsite repositories of soils contaminated with asbestos-containing materials. Following remedial action, OU1 has moved to operations and maintenance by the State, who is responsible for conducting annual inspections to evaluate remedy performance.

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data.
