EPA Superfund Site

HIGHWAY 18 GROUND WATER

TX | EPA ID TXN000606716

Exposure status: insufficient data

About this site’s exposure pathways: As of August 2025, there is insufficient information to determine the site-wide Human Exposure Control status at the Highway 18 Groundwater Superfund site due to identified exposure pathways involving perchloroethylene (PCE) contamination and potential vapor intrusion impacts on nearby residences. Residential testing for vapor intrusion will be available, and a comprehensive community involvement effort is being developed to help gain consent for access. Additional sampling activities for the Remedial Investigation (RI) continued in August 2025. The ongoing contract also includes funding for a Feasibility Study for this site. It is anticipated that sufficient data to make a Human Exposure determination will be available by June 2028.

Data limitations: Proximity to a Superfund site boundary does not mean your property is contaminated. EPA site boundaries show the area designated for cleanup, not the full extent of contamination. Groundwater plumes can extend beyond site boundaries. This tool shows publicly available EPA federal data. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by EPA, and is not a substitute for a professional environmental assessment.
