About this site’s exposure pathways: As of March 2025, the sitewide Human Exposure Control status at the Shaffer Equipment/Arbuckle Creek Area Superfund Site is considered "Human Exposure Not Under Control (HENC). The Site was finalized on the NPL in May 2019. The former SEC Property HHRA and Sitewide HHRA have been finalized and each indicate unacceptable risk. PCBs in the surface soil at concentrations above 1 mg/kg. Individuals can reduce their exposure risk to PCBs by not trespassing on the SEC property. The EPA issued the Record of Decision in July 2024 to address PCB contaminated soil at the former SEC Property. IA in place with USACE to complete the design to implement the selected remedy at the former SEC Property. Work has started on the next Proposed Plan which will address the remaining project areas with unacceptable risk in soil and sediment. Human health is expected to be under control after the next Record of Decision is issued and the remedial design and remedial actions are completed, which is by December 2030.
